Launch of ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ Exhibit at Athelstan Museum, Friday 3rd March 2017

“Keep the Home Fires Burning” Exhibit Launch – FREE EVENT

Town Hall, Malmesbury

March 3rd 2017 @ 7pm

Our 4th exhibit, ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ will look at day to day life across Wiltshire whilst many of the men were away at war. Women were called to step into roles that were previously reserved for the men, children were called to play their part and many new laws appeared in order to keep Great Britain producing, surviving and contributing to the massive allied war effort.

The exhibit will be launched with live music from the fantastic WW1 themed singer Louise Jordan, who’ll be performing tracks from her latest album ‘No Pettitcoats Here’. For more information visit Louise’s website here: www.louisejordan.co.uk

The exhibit includes information panels with illuminating images, and is the fourth of five Wiltshire at War exhibits, which are part of Wiltshire County’s multi-year remembrance of the First World War. Stories have been gathered from all across Wiltshire to create it. It will remain on display at Athelstan Museum until 15th May 2017.
