‘The Call to Arms’ on display at Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre, Chippenham: 6 Jun – 2 Jul 2016

The Call to Arms – The first exhibition in the Wiltshire at War: Community Stories will be on display at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, Chippenham, from Monday 06 June – Saturday 02 July 2016.

Using letters and archive images this exhibit tells the fascinating stories of men in Wiltshire called to arms in the early months of the First World War. It includes information panels and an interactive video display of stories, and is the first of five Wiltshire at War exhibitions, which are part of Wiltshire County’s multi-year remembrance of the First World War. Stories have been gathered from all across Wiltshire to create this exhibition.
This includes information about The Corsham Protection Company, who were Reservists – ex-soldiers, retired from the regular army:
