The Call to Arms, an exhibition produced by the Wiltshire at War: Community Stories project opened at Springfield Community Campus in Corsham on Saturday 28 February and runs until the end of March 2015. Using photographs and personal stories, the exhibition explores the impact of the First World War on the lives of ordinary people from across Wiltshire.
This is the first of a series of displays which will be touring the county over the next four years, looking at the different ways Wiltshire communities responded to the events of 100 years ago. The research for the exhibition has been carried out by local museums and heritage groups from across Wiltshire as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund supported project.
To complement The Call to Arms display, a free talk was held by Stewart Binns, author of ‘The Shadow of War’, in Corsham Library on Thurs 5th March. This was the first of a series of library talks which will complement the exhibition as it travels to museums and other venues around the county.
